This working paper reports the results of a small-scale survey on AI literacy among engineering students in Maharashtra, India. Twenty undergraduate students from different engineering disciplines completed a structured questionnaire about their awareness, usage, and perceived importance of artificial intelligence tools and skills. The paper summarizes key patterns in their responses, highlights major gaps in basic AI understanding and practical skills, and discusses what these gaps might mean for Indian higher education, especially in Tier-2 and Tier-3 colleges. It concludes with simple, actionable suggestions for integrating AI literacy into existing curricula for engineering and other technical programs.
