Why the study?
Does baseline coronary flow status predict improvement in left ventricular ejection fraction after emergency reperfusion in patients with acute myocardial infarction?
Population
63 patients with acute myocardial infarction undergoing emergency coronary arteriography at a mean of 7 hr…
Comparison
Emergency procedures to establish reperfusion. vs Comparison between 'no-flow' and 'limited-flow'…
Design
Cohort
Follow-up
12 +/- 7 days

Baseline flow status may identify AMI patients unlikely to recover LVEF after reperfusion; leaves open whether flow-targeted strategies warrant prospective trials.
Does baseline coronary flow status predict improvement in left ventricular ejection fraction after emergency reperfusion in patients with acute myocardial infarction?
Improvement in global ejection fraction after early reperfusion in acute myocardial infarction is unlikely to occur in the absence of preserved baseline flow (subtotal stenosis or collaterals) to the infarct area.
Rogers et al. (1984) studied this question.
