Demonstrates enhanced CH4 selectivity in nanosheets, indicating effective vacancy engineering for photocatalysis.
Artificial photosynthesis represents a promising strategy to address climate change and energy sustainability. In this study, hydrothermal-synthesized CuIn5S8 nanosheets were subjected to H2O2-induced sulfur vacancy engineering, which enhanced visible-light absorption and suppressed carrier recombination without disrupting the bulk crystal structure. The optimized Vs-CuIn5S8-10 achieved a CH4 yield of 59.85 μmolg−1 (2.73-fold of pristine CuIn5S8) with 87.7% selectivity, validating vacancy regulation as an efficient strategy for high-performance solar fuel photocatalysts.
