This study was conducted with a sample of 277 professionals currently engaged in the project logistics industry. To analyze the collected data, a one-way ANOVA was first performed to examine whether significant differences in project performance exist based on the number of projects handled. Subsequently, a stepwise multiple regression analysis was employed to identify the critical determinants of EPC project performance among three key factors: estimation accuracy, risk management, and risk mitigation. The empirical results of the analysis are as follows: The findings indicate that the mere accumulation of project experience does not automatically translate into improved overall performance or enhanced financial and operational risk control. Instead, experience primarily contributes to the refinement of technical judgment, such as estimation accuracy and supply chain risk recognition. The statistical analysis yields a robust explanatory model, explaning 62.2% of the variance in project performance. Within this framework, risk management and mitigation capabilities emerge as the most critical predictors, with external environmental risk management providing essential explanatory power in addressing geopolitical and market uncertainties. Ultimately, the study concludes that EPC success depends less on the volume of past projects and more on the proactive internalization of experience into integrated managerial capabilities. Since EPC projects operate as open systems, the ability to maintain execution-oriented and externally responsive risk management constitutes the primary source of competitive advantage for firms in this sector.
