Demonstrates ancestral connections to Confederate General Robert E. Lee through family ties and encounters.
In this paper, I will demonstrate, that what was once thought of as a mere connection based on marriage relations to famous Confederate General Robert E Lee (1807-1870), was later determined to have kith-and-kin style ties. Two or three of my Virginia family members almost certainly had personal contact with Lee, through various hotel and 'friendship' arrangements, and four others may have crosed his path or received 'honorable mention' from the Grey Ghost during the course of the American Civil War (ACW). The Major's, ancestors to the author of this paper, were certainly blood relatives to Lee. The propensity of these ties demonstrates more than just a mere chance encounter with Lee by my Virginia ancestors. Pitch sent to Epoch magazine (UK) on July 24, 2025.
