Trial-trenching was carried out in advance of the residential development of the site. The work comprised the excavation of 51 trenches across six areas (Areas 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) totally c.8ha. The archaeological evaluation has demonstrated the presence of a low density of below-ground archaeological remains, comprising a single possible roundhouse ditch/gully of Middle to Late Bronze Age date with two undated pits nearby. These remains are confined to two trenches in the south of the site and may define the location of a small farmstead typical of the period.
