Abstract The present work proposes an extension of the REBUS model (Carhart-Harris & Friston, 2019) through the introduction of the concept of native entropy: a stable neural configuration characterized by reduced predictive filtering, dominance of bottom-up information flow, and chronic operation near the critical point. It is hypothesized that certain high-cognitive-potential and neurodivergent profiles structurally exhibit neural patterns analogous to those observed in psychedelic states—without the need for pharmacological induction. The framework proposes a tripartition of native entropy into emotional, cognitive, and creative subtypes, illustrated through three historical phenomenological archetypes. Clinical implications include the reinterpretation of depression in these profiles as entropic collapse—distinct from neurotypical hypotonic depression—and an explanation of atypical SSRI responses through 5-HT2A receptor hypersensitivity. Preliminary evidence from EEG studies on gifted and autistic populations supports the plausibility of the hypothesis. The work concludes with a methodological proposal for the empirical verification of the framework through the comparison of brain entropy and alpha power measures between native-entropy profiles and psilocybin-induced psychedelic states.
