Experimental assessment demonstrates efficient CO2 absorption in diethylenetriamine solvent, suggesting industrial application benefits.
Mass transfer performance is an important design criterion for the absorption of CO 2 by amines in packed columns. In this paper, the effects of diethylenetriamine (DETA)–1‐dimethylamino‐2‐propanol (1DMA2P)–H 2 O biphasic solvent on the total mass transfer coefficient ( K G a v ) of different operating parameters (liquid flow rate, gas flow rate, liquid temperature, CO 2 partial pressure, and CO 2 loading) were investigated in a mesh‐structured (DX) packed column. The mass transfer mechanism of this biphasic solvent to capture CO 2 was assessed by determining the control step of mass transfer. In addition, the experimental data were compared with two empirical models, the Sheng model and the modification, and the results showed that the modification could better fit the experimental results. Further analysis was conducted on the differences in packed column design among several different amine systems and the DETA–1DMA2P–H 2 O system. The findings revealed that the DETA–1DMA2P–H 2 O system required the least column volume, highlighting its strong potential for industrial application.
