ABSTRACT When we look at the changes of the world from a sufficiently distant historical perspective, we can discern many recurring cycles. Certain kinds of developments tend to follow other kinds of developments with a characteristic delay. This rhythm arises from the deep structures of human societies—the duration of generations and their regular succession, the long waves of economic and technological renewal, and the causal laws of nature that govern accumulation, saturation, and collapse. When a threshold is reached, systems reorganise through catalytic processes, tipping points, and emergent new orders. These dynamics generate recurring yet non‐deterministic patterns: pulses of rise, decline, and renewal that have punctuated world history for millennia. This article introduces macrohistorical cycle synchronization as a foresight methodology for analysing such deep‐time transformations. Synthesising five nested social and technological cycles—from decadal innovation waves to century‐long institutional rhythms—it proposes that approximately every 250 years all shorter cycles converge, producing a civilisational “Mega Epoch.” Drawing on two decades of research (Kuosa 2005–2026) and classical macrohistorians including Ibn Khaldun, Toynbee, Kondratieff, Strauss & Howe, and Turchin, the paper demonstrates how this synchronization logic can be used to map 2500 years of Western history into Ten Mega Epochs. The method extends strategic foresight beyond near‐term trend analysis toward a science of long‐range anticipation, linking techno‐social‐economical transformation, institutional evolution, and civilisational renewal in a single temporal framework. While the framework identifies recurring patterns in civilizational evolution, it is not deterministic and is explicitly open to falsification and contingent on stable retroactive structures such as generation length and techno‐economic platforms.
