Case report shows corneal flattening after collagen crosslinking in keratoconus, suggesting need for patient follow-up.
To report a case of progressive corneal flattening after corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL) in early keratoconus. A 29-year-old female with bilateral early keratoconus underwent uneventful CXL in 2018 in the right eye using the standard Dresden protocol. She presented 5 years after the procedure with extreme corneal flattening of 4.7 D. Progressive flattening after CXL has been described in literature as a possible delayed complication of the procedure. Such cases signify the importance of a close follow-up of patients after CXL.
