Abstract In 2011, the American Economic Association (AEA) changed the peer review policy of its journals, shifting from double-blind to single-blind review. Under the new system, author identities are disclosed to referees, whereas they are formally concealed under double-blind review. This paper finds that this change in the information environment did not affect the prevalence of p-hacking in articles published in the American Economic Review.
