Abstract To tackle the issues of high cost, low activity, and poor stability of anode catalysts for anion exchange membrane (AEM) water electrolysis, we prepared NiFe LDH on nickel felt via in-situ deposition of iron salts and topological transformation. The catalyst shows excellent oxygen evolution reaction (OER) performance with 270 mV overpotential at 10 mA/cm2 in a three-electrode system, 1.7826 V at 1000 mA/cm2 in AEM electrolyzers, and good long-term stability for 1030 h.
