Airborne viruses cause millions of deaths and significant economic losses around the world, especially in developing countries. Since viral particles are transmitted through airborne routes and can remain viable for hours, monitoring and timely detection of airborne viruses is a crucial strategy to prevent and control outbreaks of respiratory infections. This review compares various sampling devices and methods used for detecting infectious airborne viruses.
