Abstract A taxonomic revision of the genus Duthiea Hack. in India recognizes two species: D. brachypodium and D. bromoides. D. brachypodium is newly recorded here from the Indian Eastern Himalaya (IEH), collected from Sikkim, which also constitutes the first generic evidence of Duthiea for the IEH. For each taxon, detailed information on morphology, taxonomy, nomenclatural citation, phenology, distribution and habitat are provided, accompanied by illustrations, exsiccatae and an identification key to the Indian species of the genus. Additionally, the name, D. nepalensis (= Duthiea brachypodium) is lectotypified.
