Exhibition catalogue showcases new artworks addressing ecology and technology in WA region, suggesting crucial environmental change.
This 24-page catalogue was produced for the 2026 exhibition Seven Forms (Geraldton '26) at Geraldton Regional Art Gallery, Western Australia. Seven Forms (Geraldton ‘26) presents new work by seven established WA-based artists. The artists consider natural ecologies in the Mid West region intersecting with human technologies including so-called artificial intelligence. The projects are specific to particular sites and speculative; they consider current and future climate change impacts and human entanglement in the processes they unleash. The artists – Susanna Castleden, Monika Lukowska-Appel, Melanie McKee, Alana McVeigh, Layli Rakhsha, Sarah Robinson and Sue Starcken – focus in their creative research on intersections of art, technology and the environment at a time when human futures require fundamental change. Always observant of being on Yamatji Country, together the artists offer a compelling vision of place at a time of profound environmental and cultural transition. The exhibition is the second in a series of exhibitions curated by Janice Baker highlighting the uniqueness of Western Australian regions in a time of transition toward sustainable energy and communities. The catalogue includes a curatorial essay, artist statements from each of the seven participating artists, and reproductions of artworks produced for the exhibition. The project was funded by the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport.
