Assesses consensus-based control for mitigating transitions in multiple VSGs, suggesting improved system stability.
During the transition of Virtual Synchronous Generator (VSG)‐based inverters from islanded to grid‐connected operation, the lack of effective pre‐synchronization control typically results in substantial inrush currents upon direct reconnection, threatening the safe operation of system equipment. This issue is exacerbated in systems with multiple parallel VSGs, as coupling interactions among inverters further amplify power oscillations during the switching process, thereby imposing stricter requirements on system stability. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a consensus‐based pre‐synchronization control strategy that eliminates the need for conventional phase‐locked loops (PLLs). By utilizing a simplified communication mechanism, the proposed method actively coordinates voltage amplitude and phase among multiple VSG units, ensuring inverter output voltages remain synchronized with the grid voltage throughout the transition. This approach simplifies the traditional PLL‐based structure and substantially reduces the overall control complexity of the system. Simulation results indicate that the proposed strategy effectively mitigates transient power oscillations during mode switching in multi‐VSG parallel systems, significantly enhances seamless transitions between grid‐connected and islanded modes, and demonstrates superior practicality compared to conventional pre‐synchronization methods.
