Compared with patients without lung disease, preclinical ILD was associated with smoking history (P < .001), crackles (P = .02), wider alveolar-arterial oxygen gradients (P = .004), and elevated alveolar PDGF-AB (497.3 vs 24.9 pg/mL, P < .001) and PDGF-BB (1473 vs 792.7 pg/mL, P = .047).
Progressive preclinical ILD was associated with methotrexate therapy (P = .046) and higher alveolar concentrations of interferon gamma (P = .04) and transforming growth factor beta-1 (P = .04) compared with stable disease.
