Experimental study demonstrates reduced strength and increased deformability in pine, spruce, and oak wood following prolonged moistening, highlighting moisture-induced structural vulnerabilities.
Experimental studies of pine, spruce and oak wood after long-term moistening with a short-term one-time load under axial compression along the fibers were carried out. Wood deformation diagrams of “stress σ с – relative deformation u c ” under specific operating conditions were constructed. New experimental data on changes in the basic mechanical properties of wood after prolonged moistening were obtained. The main strength and deformation characteristics under these operating conditions were determined. It has been established experimentally that the influence of an active aqueous environment significantly diminishes the strength parameters of wood and increases deformability.
