Consensus guidelines update negative pressure wound therapy applications in wound repair, improving clinical outcomes.
The 2017 version of the Expert Consensus on the Application of Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) in Burn Surgery has long been a valuable clinical reference for practitioners in China. In recent years, NPWT technology has become increasingly diverse, and its application has expanded to a wider range of clinical conditions—particularly in wound repair and postoperative infection prevention, where a substantial body of high-level clinical evidence has accumulated to support its efficacy. To ensure that the consensus reflects the latest clinical advances, a multidisciplinary panel of experts in wound care was convened. By integrating the most recent research evidence from both domestic and international sources with extensive clinical practice experience, the experts conducted in-depth literature reviews, deliberations, and consultative discussions, focusing on key aspects including NPWT classification, indications for wound repair, and parameter settings. This consensus was updated to provide unified and standardized operational guidelines and treatment protocols for clinicians in wound-related disciplines, thereby facilitating the rational and effective clinical application of NPWT.
