A report on the photocatalysis with organized systems for the oxofunctionalization of hydrocarbons by oxygen was presented. The activation processes of both the substrate and the oxygen was examined. The nonemissive platinum (II) quaterpyridine complex showed strong photoluminescence at room temperature. The results demonstrated unique aspects of host-guest photocatalysis in the solid state as well as solution phase.
