We argue stochastic rupture exhibits an absorbing-state phase transition, suggesting implications for directed percolation universality.
We argue that the Stochastic Rupture (SR) framework, when formulated as a non-equilibrium statistical field theory via the MSRJD path integral, exhibits an absorbing-state phase transition whose universality class is conjectured to be that of Directed Percolation (DP). The SR Langevin dynamics is mapped to the standard DP Reggeon field theory through a field shift, and the entropy constraint of SR is identified as a modification of the initial-condition mea- sure. Using known results from the non-perturbative functional renormalization group (FRG) in the Blaizot–M´endez-Wschebor (BMW) truncation for DP, we conjecture that the entropy constraint does not generate new relevant operators at the DP infrared fixed point, and is there- fore RG-irrelevant in the infrared limit. This conjecture implies that the collapse threshold η is a non-universal amplitude set by initial conditions rather than a fixed-point invariant. The key open problem—an explicit operator dimension calculation at the DP fixed point—is stated precisel
