RUNOFF measurements on simulated rainfall erosion plots have typically been made with weirs and flumes which require the accurate measurement of head. A tipping bucket flow measurement device is described in which a variation of the tipping bucket rain gauge principle is used. High sediment concentrations do not cause significant problems. The variation in flow measurements is less than three percent at a given flow rate with sediment concentrations ranging from zero to 200,000 mg/L. Detailed drawings are included in the paper..
