Case report shows resolution of symptoms following cataract surgery with a four-point iris-fixated IOL, indicating potential for better vision recovery.
A 55-year-old female presented with a fixed dilated pupil, consistent with diagnosis of Urrets–Zavalia syndrome (UZS), along with complaints of diminution of vision and bothersome glare after cataract surgery in her left eye. As the sulcus placed single-piece intraocular lens (IOL) was speculated to be the causative factor, it was replaced with four-point iris-fixated IOL. The postoperative period was uneventful with resolution of symptoms and good visual recovery. Considering the limited modalities available for the treatment of refractory cases like UZS, these novel IOL devices can be a valuable addition to the armamentarium of eye surgeons handling such difficult cases.
