Qualitative analysis explores stigma and treatment experiences in Black transgender women, suggesting the need for improved provider training and affirming spaces.
, participants linked their need for services to experiences of early life trauma, intersectional stigma, and associated socio-structural vulnerabilities. Participants' service use experiences ranged from mis- and unequal treatment to finding a provider who allowed the affirming space for identity exploration. Implications, including gender congruent housing in residential treatment centres, and the preparation and training of providers for diversity in client experiences, gender affirmation, and trauma informed care, are identified.
