Case report describes Nd:YAG laser-induced Descemet membrane detachment, indicating a rare complication.
We report a case of a 57-year-old female patient diagnosed as a primary angle-closure suspect based on gonioscopy (Shaffer grade I). She underwent peripheral iridotomy with Nd:YAG laser (4 shots near the limbus). Shortly after the procedure, she developed a Descemet membrane detachment, an extremely rare complication following laser iridotomy. Due to the extent of the detachment, a descemetopexy with 20% SF6 gas was performed. Postoperative recovery was favorable, with improvement in visual acuity and restoration of corneal clarity.
