Demonstrates improved hair density in a child with ectodermal dysplasia, suggesting minoxidil’s effectiveness.
A 10-year-old boy was referred with progressive, diffuse balding of the scalp and abnormal dentition with conical incisors consistent with an ectodermal dysplasia. Treatment was commenced with sublingual minoxidil, which he tolerated without any side-effects. At four months, his hair shedding assessment grade had reduced from grade 5 to grade 3 according to the Sinclair Hair Shedding Visual Scale, and the patient reported increased hair density.
