Melting and calving glacier ice in the coastal Arctic creates a vibrant and noisy underwater soundscape and an environment rich in dynamic thermohaline structure. Recent advances in both passive and active acoustics show a range of important new results, such as quantification of submarine melting rate, subaerial calving flux, and the structure of glacier termini and meltwater outflows.
