Abstract

Much of the focus of the political and public debate on emissions reduction is on supply. However, it is demand for, and use of, fossil fuels that generates greenhouse gas emissions. Reducing emissions associated with natural gas will require demand to fall, but for many uses of natural gas, the indications are that such alternatives will not be available for at least a decade and likely much longer.
