LLLu LiuYTYunfeng TaoMCMenghan Chu

Key Points

  • This research aims to develop a new reaction pathway for indole derivatives involving aldehydes and ketones.
  • Utilized cerium-photocatalytic LMCT excitation for reaction initiation.
  • Conducted 1,5-HAT for activation of indole C2 sp2 C–H bond.
  • Investigated the resulting indole C2 radical addition reaction.
  • Successfully demonstrated the indole C2 radical addition to various aldehydes and ketones.
  • Achieved selective activation of the C–H bond, indicating high efficiency.
  • Provided an innovative synthetic approach to creating indole derivatives.

Abstract

A novel reaction is initiated by cerium-photocatalytic LMCT excitation of an indole alkanol, followed by 1,5-HAT for indole C2 sp 2 C–H bond activation, resulting in the indole C2 radical Prins-like addition reaction with aldehydes and ketones.
