LaPFOE is linked to 0% groin complications versus manual compression following cryoballoon ablation.
Why the study?
Groin complications are the most common adverse events during cryoballoon ablation, and the safety and cost-effectiveness of the LaPFOE technique compared with double-ProGlide and manual compression needed evaluation.
Does the LaPFOE technique reduce groin complications and costs compared to manual compression or double-ProGlide in patients undergoing cryoballoon ablation for atrial fibrillation?
Observational (n=292)
No

The LaPFOE technique appears to be a safe and cost-effective alternative to manual compression and double-ProGlide for venous closure after cryoballoon ablation.
Suggests a highly effective, cost-saving venous closure alternative for AF ablation; leaves.
BACKGROUND: Groin complications are considered to be the most common adverse events during cryoballon ablation. We aimed to compare the safety and cost-effectiveness of the LaPFOE technique (combined low approach femoral venous puncture, pre-dilation with a femoral artery sheath core, and figure-of-eight suture) with double-ProGlide technique and manual compression after cryoballoon ablation for atrial fibrillation with uninterrupted oral anticoagulants. METHODS: Conventional manual compression, the double-ProGlide technique and the LaPFOE technique were applied in the first 100 patients, the following 92 patients, and the last 100 patients, respectively. The occurrence of groin complications was evaluated immediately and at the three-month follow-up. RESULTS: yuan, P < 0.05]. CONCLUSIONS: The LaPFOE technique is safe and cost-effective and has clinical benefits in lowering the occurrence of any groin complications, shortening the total electrophysiology laboratory time and hospital stay after the procedure and reducing hospital cost.

Sun et al. (2025) conducted an observational in Atrial fibrillation (n=292). LaPFOE technique vs. Manual compression and double-ProGlide technique was evaluated on Any groin complication (p=<0.001). The LaPFOE technique significantly reduced the incidence of any groin complication to 0% compared to 18.0% with manual compression and 3.26% with the double-ProGlide technique following cryoballoon ablation.
