Root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita) is a significant cotton pest that produces root galls, reduces plant vigor, and lowers yield. This study evaluated the efficacy of nematicides and resistant cotton varieties in managing root-knot nematode infestations. Field trials were carried out in 2025 at Auburn University's Plant Breeding Unit, Tallassee, AL, using four cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) varieties; DP 2038 B3XF, DP 2131 B3TXF, DP 2143NR B3XF, and DP 2436NR B3TXF. Varieties were treated with velum applied in-furrow at 6 fl oz/A, and an untreated control. Results from these field trials suggest that combining resistant varieties with targeted nematicide application can improve cotton performance in M. incognita infested fields.
