The distributed generations have several advantages such as reducing the required transmission capacity, real power loss, and the traditional generation expansion, etc. An autonomous system is an independent system that may include diesel generators, wind park, solar photovoltaic (PV) module and/or batteries, etc. This paper presents a new method for dealing with the short-term kW scheduling of an autonomous system. The fuel cost of diesel units is minimized and all operation constrains are satisfied. The genetic algorithm is used to solve this problem. The penalty function and encoded independent variables are discussed. Simulation results based on an autonomous system show the applicability of the proposed method.
