Selective radiofrequency catheter ablation of the slow pathway successfully eliminated AVNRT in 100% of patients at 3 months without causing permanent changes to anterograde AV conduction.
Why the study?
Does selective radiofrequency catheter ablation of the slow pathway safely and effectively eliminate AVNRT in the acute and chronic phases?

Does selective radiofrequency catheter ablation of the slow pathway safely and effectively eliminate AVNRT in the acute and chronic phases?
Radiofrequency catheter ablation of the slow pathway is a safe and effective method for curing AVNRT, with no permanent adverse effects on fast pathway conduction.
Supports selective slow pathway ablation for AVNRT without conduction impairment; leaves open need for larger prospective trials.

Kasao et al. (1995) conducted an observational in Atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT) (n=15). Selective radiofrequency catheter ablation of the slow pathway vs. Baseline (pre-ablation) was evaluated on Elimination of slow pathway and non-inducibility of AVNRT at 3 months. Selective radiofrequency catheter ablation of the slow pathway successfully eliminated AVNRT in 100% of patients at 3 months without causing permanent changes to anterograde AV conduction.
