OBJECTIVE: The objective of the review is to describe features of interventions that address social and structural conditions for individuals with select complex, chronic conditions: multiple sclerosis (MS), inflammatory arthritis, diabetes, or frailty. INTRODUCTION: Despite advances in health care over the past 30 years, substantial heterogeneity in health outcomes persists across people with complex, chronic conditions. Social and structural conditions affect this heterogeneity and contribute to social vulnerability, marginalization and equity-seeking status. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: We will examine academic and gray-literature sources to identify and describe the features (eg, focus, theoretical underpinnings, content) of interventions that have been implemented in community settings (including outpatient clinics) to address social and structural conditions associated with social vulnerability, marginalization, and/or equity-seeking status among adults (18+) with MS, inflammatory arthritis, diabetes, or frailty. METHODS: This scoping review will follow JBI methodology. Keywords will be searched in MEDLINE, Embase, and PsycINFO (OVID), CINAHL (EBSCOhost), Oxford Academic - Social Work, International Bibliography of Social Sciences and Sociological Abstracts (ProQuest), and the Social Sciences Citation Index (Web of Sciences). Title and abstracts will be screened by 2 reviewers for eligibility, followed by full-text review to determine eligibility for inclusion. One team member will be responsible for data extraction, with a second team member verifying extraction. Findings will be collated and synthesized by the research team to map the current status of interventions that address social and structural conditions for individuals with MS, inflammatory arthritis, diabetes, or frailty.
