Demonstrates effective propulsion of catalase-based micromotors in hydrogen peroxide, indicating a novel manufacturing technique.
Chemically powered micro/nanomotors have been widely investigated, yet practical fabrication and enzyme integration remain challenging. We report a submicron Janus micromotor based on amino-functionalized polystyrene (AG-PS) particles prepared by hemispherical Au sputtering followed by one-step glutaraldehyde-mediated catalase immobilization. In 5% H₂O₂, the micromotors generated O₂ bubbles and exhibited propulsion at ∼178 μm s⁻¹. Catalase loading was estimated as 55 μU per particle, demonstrating a straightforward route to catalase-powered Janus micromotors.
