Correlational study explores koha ILS usage in public university libraries related to performance expectancy and leadership styles.
Koha integrated library software (ILS) is a crucial tool in today's dynamic library environment, designed to manage a library's basic housekeeping tasks and deliver library services to users. However, evidence has shown that Koha ILS utilisation for service delivery among public university libraries, especially in Southwestern Nigeria has been relatively low This study examined the performance expectancy and leadership styles as correlates of the use of Koha ILS in public university libraries in the Southwestern Nigeria. One hypothesis was formulated for this study. The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology and the Situational Leadership Theory provided the framework. The survey design of the correlational type was adopted. Twelve public universities in the six states in Southwestern Nigeria where Koha was in use were used in this study. All the 264 library personnel were enumerated. Data collected were tested using multiple linear regression at a 0.05 level of significance. The performance expectancy (Beta = .408, t (234) = 7.014, p < .001) and leadership stylee (Beta = .230, t (234) = 3.952, p = .001) relatively contributed to the use of Koha ILS F (2, 234) = 44.343, p < 0.001. It was concluded that significant relationships existed between the performance expectancy and leadership styles on the use of Koha ILS in Southwestern Nigerian public university libraries. It was recommended that universities and library management in public universities in Southwestern Nigeria should enhance library personnel performance expectancy to use Koha ILS, and emphasize effective leadership styles to boost production, competitiveness, and effectiveness.
