In vitro fertilization and its associated heightened hormonal states were linked to 3 cases of reverse Takotsubo syndrome with midbasal left ventricular dysfunction in premenopausal women.
Case Report (n=3)
Suggests a potential link between the high hormonal states of in vitro fertilization and the development of reverse Takotsubo syndrome.
Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) has heterogenous clinical presentations for which the pathophysiologic mechanisms remain incompletely understood. Identifying patterns to the variants of TTS, including reverse TTS, may provide insight into TTS pathophysiology. In this report, we share 3 cases of reverse TTS in premenopausal women at different stages of in vitro fertilization, suggesting a link between heightened hormonal states and midbasal left ventricular dysfunction in the setting of TTS.
Lee et al. (Fri,) conducted a case report in Reverse Takotsubo Syndrome (n=3). In vitro fertilization was evaluated on Reverse Takotsubo syndrome. In vitro fertilization and its associated heightened hormonal states were linked to 3 cases of reverse Takotsubo syndrome with midbasal left ventricular dysfunction in premenopausal women.
