Review highlights advancements in asymmetric CH activation using 3D transition metals, emphasizing sustainability and innovative approaches.
3d transition metal (TM)-catalyzed asymmetric CH activation has developed as an efficacious and powerful strategy for direct synthesis of chiral organic molecules. In recent years, electrooxidative and photoredox approaches have been coupled with 3d TM-catalyzed asymmetric CH activation to fully realize the sustainable potential of this protocol. Herein, we highlight the comprehensive account of recent advancements within the realm of asymmetric CH activation, focusing on sustainability with special emphasis on 3d metal catalysts and the strategies that incorporate electrooxidative and photoredox approaches. This review also aims to foster a greater understanding of fundamental catalytic processes in sustainable metallaelectro and photoredox strategies for the synthesis of enantiopure scaffolds.
