The article is an introduction to the five articles included in the volume "Coherence and Fragmentation". More precisely, the introduction outlines, contextualizes, and examines the present state of research concerning (i) receptive multilingualism, (ii) English usage in the Nordic countries, and (iii) literary multilingualism.
