Right infra-axillary transaortic modified Morrow is linked to ~1% mortality and resolved systolic anterior motion.
Why the study?
To assess the short-term outcomes of the transaortic modified Morrow procedure when performed via a minimally invasive right infra-axillary incision.
Does the transaortic modified Morrow procedure via a minimally invasive right infra-axillary incision provide favorable short-term outcomes in patients with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy?

Does the transaortic modified Morrow procedure via a minimally invasive right infra-axillary incision provide favorable short-term outcomes in patients with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy?
The minimally invasive right infra-axillary approach for the transaortic modified Morrow procedure demonstrates favorable short-term safety and efficacy in patients with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy.
Supports feasibility of right infra-axillary Morrow in HOCM; leaves open randomized comparisons to sternotomy.
Objective: To assess the short-term outcomes of the transaortic modified Morrow procedure when performed via a minimally invasive right infra-axillary incision. Methods: We conducted a retrospective observational study at a single center of patients diagnosed with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy from September 2021 to July 2023. Results: < .001). The systolic anterior motion phenomenon was completely eliminated, with no severe mitral regurgitation was observed postoperatively. No iatrogenic ventricular septal defects occurred. One hundred twenty-four (83.8%) patients were extubated in the operating room. Eight (5.4%) patients received permanent pacemaker implantation. Unfortunately, 1 patient (0.7%) died of an intraoperative subarachnoid hemorrhage. Conclusions: The transaortic modified Morrow procedure, performed through a minimally invasive right infra-axillary incision, shows favorable short-term outcomes.

Dong et al. (2024) conducted an observational in Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (n=148). Transaortic modified Morrow procedure via right infra-axillary incision was evaluated on Short-term outcomes. The transaortic modified Morrow procedure via a right infra-axillary incision completely eliminated systolic anterior motion, with 83.8% extubated in the operating room and 0.7% mortality.
