This research explores the essence of architecture through concepts of subtraction and perception, indicating a shift in understanding.
This research aims to explore the horizons of post-form architecture, moving beyond the traditional dominance of material mass towards a deeper understanding of architectural existence based on perception. By analyzing the concepts of ‘Non-Form,’ ‘InBetween Space,’ and ‘Architecture of Subtraction,’ the article presents a critical vision that answers the question: if form is removed from architecture, what remains? It redefines spatial experience as a sensory event shaped by the presence of absence. Drawing on global architectural examples, the article concludes that the essence of architecture does not lie in its fixed final form, but in the residual trace and spatial memory that unfolds to the user through movement and time, making ‘subtraction’ a generative act that enriches architectural meaning and liberates it from the constraints of pure formal representation.
