Early TEVAR is linked to ~5x greater complete false lumen shrinkage versus late chronic cases.

Does TEVAR with re-entry closure improve thoracic false lumen remodeling in late chronic type B aortic dissection compared to early chronic?
In TEVAR for late chronic type B aortic dissection, closure of re-entries in the left common and external iliac arteries is crucial for promoting mid-term false lumen remodeling.
Iliac re-entry closure may aid false lumen remodeling after TEVAR; leaves open optimal timing and efficacy in late chronic type B aortic dissection.

Ohno et al. (2024) conducted an observational in Chronic Type B Aortic Dissection (n=25). Thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) vs. Late chronic stage (>4 months) was evaluated on Complete shrinkage of the thoracic false lumen (p=0.005). TEVAR achieved complete shrinkage of the thoracic false lumen in 67% of early chronic cases compared to 13% of late chronic cases, with iliac artery re-entry closure significantly affecting remodeling.
