New ECG-equipped smart shirt continuously monitors vitals to proactively detect cardiac arrest.
Why the study?
To develop a method to confirm a heart attack after the initial incident using a sensor-equipped smart shirt.
A novel smart shirt equipped with ECG, pulse oximetry, and temperature sensors offers a potential wearable engineering solution for continuous monitoring and emergency notification in patients at risk of recurrent cardiac events.
May enable continuous monitoring in high-risk patients; leaves open prospective validation before clinical adoption.
By developing a "smart shirt" with a variety of sensors, this work suggests a method to confirm a heart attack after the initial incident. In order to continuously monitor vital body characteristics including heart rate, blood oxygen level, and body temperature, the technology incorporates essential parts like a diode ECG sensor, a MAX30100 pulse oximeter, and an LM35 temperature sensor. The work is done by the Arduino microcontroller, which rapidly interprets data from the sensors and analyses the activity of the heart. In addition to facilitating wireless communication, the Sim800L GSM module enables the system to identify symptoms of cardiac illness and send emergency notifications to carers or physicians. The jumper-connected, battery-operated device is made to be adaptable and simple to incorporate into regular clothes, enabling patients to get.
