Repetitive AV block triggers palpitations and dizziness in a 71-year-old woman, prompting pacemaker evaluation.
Why the study?
To evaluate whether a patient presenting with intermittent palpitations, dizziness, and atrioventricular block sequences requires a pacemaker.
Case Report (n=1)
A case report discussing the indication for pacemaker implantation in a symptomatic 71-year-old woman with atrioventricular block.
May support individualized pacemaker evaluation in symptomatic intermittent AV block; hypothesis-generating case that leaves optimal criteria open.
A 71-year-old woman was admitted due to intermittent palpitations and occasional episodes of mild dizziness, particularly noticeable on assuming a standing position during the past month. The ECG recorded in the emergency room is depicted in Figure These ob-served sequences were repetitive for long periods during ECG monitoring. The patient's cardiovascular history and physical examination yielded no noteworthy findings. The echocardiogram did not reveal any significant structural abnormalities. Does this patient need a pacemaker?

González‐Torrecilla et al. (2023) conducted a case report in Atrioventricular Block (n=1). Pacemaker was evaluated. A 71-year-old woman presented with intermittent palpitations and dizziness, with ECG monitoring showing repetitive sequences of atrioventricular block, raising the question of pacemaker indication.
