Laboratory study demonstrates responsive pH tracking and heat-activated antimicrobial release against Escherichia coli, suggesting potential for real-time infected wound management.
Infection monitoring is an important field for wound treatment. This paper presents an engineered smart wound dressing which incorporates pH sensing, wireless smartphone interface and drug delivery components. This system is effective at measuring pH and has a precisely controlled heat-driven drug delivery system. In tests with E. Coli, the smart wound dressing system has been demonstrably effective.
