To analyze gender disparities in the representation of women on editorial boards of oncology journals.
Conducted a cross-sectional analysis of 310 oncology journals indexed in InCites Journal Citation Reports.
Manual data extraction from journal websites for editorial board member gender and other variables.
Analyzed variables such as Journal Impact Factor quartile, indexing, and geographical representation.
Women represented 26.5% of 21,065 editorial board members and 23.5% of 378 editors-in-chief.
Female representation was highest in Q1 journals at 30.5% and lowest in Q4 journals at 17.9% (p < 0.001).
Geographical disparities were significant, with 49.5% of editorial board members being women in U.S.-based journals versus only 1.5% in Australia (p < 0.001).
