Study monitored excavation activities for archaeological evidence in Haynes, indicating no significant findings.
Central Bedfordshire Council granted planning permission (CB/24/00186/FULL) for the creation of a new wildlife pond in a Field off West End, Haynes, Bedfordshire, MK45 3QU. As the development lay within an area that had the potential to contain archaeological remains, Central Bedfordshire Council's Archaeology Team advised that a condition (no. 3) should be attached to the planning consent requiring an archaeological mitigation strategy. Albion Archaeology was commissioned to carry out the resultant fieldwork, which took place on 30th July 2024 and entailed monitoring the building contractor's excavation of the wildlife pond as far down as the undisturbed geology. The monitoring did not reveal any archaeological features, only agricultural soils, and no residual artefacts were recovered Central Bedfordshire Council granted planning permission (CB/24/00186/FULL) for the creation of a new wildlife pond in a Field off West End, Haynes, Bedfordshire, MK45 3QU.
