Study trenching evaluates archaeological remains in Buckinghamshire, suggesting minimal impact on development.
Albion Archaeology undertook archaeological trial trenching in March 2025, excavating three trenches. Rectory Homes Ltd commissioned Albion Archaeology to undertake an archaeological evaluation on Land West of Sandy Lane, Long Crendon (Northern Parcel), Buckinghamshire. This was to comply with a condition (no. 14) placed on the approved planning application (23/01261/APP) from Buckinghamshire Council for the residential development of a pasture field centred on NGR SP 68890 08630, on the south-western edge of Long Crendon village. Albion Archaeology undertook archaeological trial trenching in March 2025, excavating three trenches. The only archaeological feature identified was a late medieval to postmedieval furrow. No datable artefacts were recovered. No remains of earlier archaeological provenance were identified, suggesting that the planned development is unlikely to have a significant negative impact on any archaeological remains
