Examines archaeological features in a site, suggesting historical significance of findings.
Twenty-one trenches were opened mechanically under archaeological supervision and archaeological features investigated by hand. Most of the trenches revealed cut features (mainly ditches) but few could be dated. Of those most were medieval but there was a reasonable quantity of Roman pottery, mainly in later features. There was a slight concentration of ditched near the adjacent (Scheduled) medieval moated site but it is not clear how they may be related.
