The rapid advancement of technology has transformed the global financial system, and India has emerged as one of the leading nations in the adoption of digital payment mechanisms. The introduction of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has revolutionized the way financial transactions are conducted by providing a fast, secure, convenient, and cashless mode of payment. Digital payment platforms such as Paytm, PhonePe, and Google Pay have significantly contributed to changing consumer payment habits and promoting financial inclusion across the country. This project titled "Impact of UPI and Digital Payments on Consumer Behaviour with Special Reference to Paytm" aims to study the growing influence of digital payment systems on consumer behaviour in India. The study focuses on understanding how UPI-based transactions have altered spending patterns, purchasing decisions, convenience levels, and trust among consumers. Special emphasis has been placed on the role of Paytm in promoting cashless transactions and digital financial services. The project also highlights the advantages, challenges, security concerns, government initiatives, and future prospects associated with digital payments. An analytical approach has been adopted using secondary data collected from journals, research papers, RBI reports, NPCI publications, websites, and other reliable sources. The completion of this project has enhanced my understanding of the digital payment ecosystem and its impact on the modern economy. I sincerely hope that this study will provide valuable insights into the evolving digital financial landscape and prove useful for students, researchers, and individuals interested in the field of digital banking and consumer behaviour.
